Writing and Reminiscing

I’m entering my fifth year in the quest for the missing gold bars of Camp McKinney. Every year I’ve said this is the year and the same applies here. It would simply have been foolish to think a solution would’ve been easy. Luck always plays into the success or failure of a venture but so does hard work and perseverance. The years have certainly added material for a book.

Writing and reading about my trials and tribulations freshens the story. The forest comes alive for me now as I know it will for decades to come, should I be so lucky. And I believe more now than ever that I will succeed. The task now, I think, is to find a suitable partner who can add credibility to the final outcome so that the government agency in control of the area will allow small machinery to be used. It’s that simple and yet almost insurmountable. And after all I’ve sacrificed, why would I stop now. A good read needs a great ending, this story most of all.

The proper words carry a powerful reminder for me. I hope my experiences in the forest will be successfully conveyed to my readers when I finish the book. Some days the words flow easily while on others they refuse to come at all. Such has been my life; the days when all goes well and the days when nothing works. Murphy’s Law is alive and well. Perhaps.

About James

As a semi-retired senior, I researched the story of the lost gold bars of Camp McKinney. My years in agriculture allowed me to comfortably search the rugged BC forest uncovering valuable clues over the years. But I have paid a high cost for my unwavering search.
